#824: Magazine Subscriptions = Knowledge

I don’t know if finding this on the interwebs makes my life better or worse, because I’m now addicted. This fascinating YouTube channel of trivia is hosted by Mental Floss and John Green (of The Fault in Our Stars fame). It’s just a series of things that the average knowledge-thirsty person wants to know, or as they put it very eloquently, “where knowledge junkies get their fix of trivia-tastic information”. Misquotations. Life hacks. Debunked myths. Misconceptions. Even mental flosshow to win at Rock, Paper, Scissors.

All of this is not news to The Girl, who has known about John Green (despite not being a fan of sappy films) and Mental Floss for a while. In fact, when we asked her recently which magazine subscription(s) she would like to have for Christmas—since The Boy has been getting Owl Magazine for the past couple of yearsshe insisted that she only wanted Mental Floss and Make Zine.

In the end, she decided that she didn’t want a subscription, but preferred to just borrow the issues from the library. Non-spenders are like that. Certainly not that I would have minded; nothing I love more than the fact that my teen isn’t poring over Seventeen or Tiger Beat.

Gotta love a girl who hungers knowledge.
